Chili Cook-Off, kids’ crafts, rides on the Jolly Trolley and, on Sunday, the 21st Annual Lewes
Polar Bear Plunge, followed by the Apres Plunge Party at the Rehoboth

Rehoboth Beach's Annual Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting

Rehoboth Beach's Annual Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting and Sing-a-Long continues a long tradition at the Bandstand this Friday, November 25, from 6-7pm. Singer/Songwriter Doug James and Mrs. Claus will lead those assembled in the festive singing of holiday songs. Please bring your copy of the holiday songbook, available in Friday's Cape Gazette. Then, at 7:00pm, the Countdown begins for the ceremonial Lighting of the Tree. Santa will be in his cottage on the Boardwalk, ready to listen to the holiday wishes of girls and boys. Hot chocolate will be served by the Special Olympics polar bear and the Plunge committee, and Browseabout Books will hand out blinking noses. Does it get any more festive than that??
Downtown Rehoboth continues in the Holiday Spirit on Saturday, with a Holiday Farmer's Market from noon-3:00pm at the usual Grove Park location. Many of your favorite vendors will be there! Holiday decorations and Holiday goodies will be available. For more info, go to www.rbfarmersmarket.com.

Friday, July 1 - The 287th Army Band of the National Guard will perform at 8pm at the Rehoboth Bandstand. These military bands are the best!
Saturday, July 2 - The 45th Annual St. Peter's Art and Artisan Show at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 2nd St., Lewes. The show runs from 9am-4pm and features 140 artists and craftspeople from the Cape region. A delicious luncheon will be served, faces will be painted, fun will be had, charities will benefit. Monday, July 4 - 4th of July Fireworks, scheduled to start about 9:15pm, although they could go as early as 8pm if inclement weather threatens. Start the evening with a pre-fireworks concert performed by the U.S. Navy Country Current, 8-9pm at the Bandstand. Fireworks can be seen anywhere along the Boardwalk or the Beach. The celebration continues with the Funsters at the Bandstand, following the fabulous firework display (sponsored by Rehoboth Beach Mainstreet- www.downtownrehoboth.com). Visitors are encouraged to utilize the Park 'n Ride, located on Surrey Rd. behind County Bank.

First ‘Agent for the Cure’

Debbie Reed was recently featured in the RE/MAX Times Online for being the first agent/team to enroll and qualify for the new "Home for the Cure" program. This is an honor considering there are currently 91,070 RE/MAX Associates world-wide. Reed has long been a supporter of breast cancer awareness and was already a supporter of the Susan G. Komen "Sold for the Cure" program.

As an "Agent for the Cure," Reed and her team made in excess of 70 donations to date this year. The team makes a contribution for each and every settlement.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, The Debbie Reed Team hosts Open Houses marked by a spray of pink balloons where they hand out informational materials as well as self-exam cards. The Team also promotes their affiliation with "Home for the Cure" in their print advertising and other marketing materials.

"People are impressed that we're still contributing when so many people are tightening budgets," Reed says. "I'm privileged to have a large client case, and I think that good fortune comes with a responsibility to give back."

Boy, after several rounds of blizzards, we have finally begun to see the light! Let the melting begin! :) One of our very brave buyers’ agents, Dianne Deming, accompanied by her husband Frank and pooch Merlin braved the day-after to grab some excellent snowy beach shots. Enjoy!

HUD Releases New FHA, Conforming Loan Limits

WASHINGTON, March 06, 2008 - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development today published new FHA and conforming loan limits, based on median home prices as mandated by the Economic Stimulus Act signed by President Bush in February. New loan limits for FHA and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are now calculated at 125 percent of the HUD published median prices, with a floor of $271,050 and $417,000, respectively, not to exceed $729,750. NAR expects the impact on the housing market to be significant because of the infusion of capital into the mortgage market, which should result in lower interest rates across the board. In addition, there will be a direct impact on high-cost areas that previously required borrowers to take out costlier jumbo mortgages.
