Happenings in June in Lewes, Rehoboth & Dewey!

“The Season” is here, and so are the sun, sand, surf and tons of fun stuff to do in the Lewes/Rehoboth area! So when you’ve had enough of the beach, check out some of these options:

June 5-11 – Downtown Restaurant Week, Rehoboth Beach! Presented by Rehoboth Main Street and sponsored by The Cape Gazette, Rehoboth’s fine restaurants will present fabulous 3-course prix-fixe dinners for $20 and $30 each, all week long. June 10 - Sussex County Habitat for Humanity Live & Silent Auction, 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., The Starboard, Dewey Beach. To be auctioned: cooking classes, design services, original art, jewelry from Chico's, Maui Jim sunglasses, tons of gift cards and more. Information; www.sussexH4Hweekend.com.

June 10-11 – Second Annual Cadbury Quilt & Arts Festival, Gulls Neck Rd., Lewes. Artists & Artisans unite to present an exhibit and sale of inspiring handcrafted work, including watercolors, photography, wood working, pottery, jewelry, fabric art and a fantastic array of quilts. Oil painter Kim Klabe is this year’s featured artist. Preview Reception, Friday, June 10th, 7-9pm, $20 advance purchase, $25 at the door. Enjoy this special opportunity to meet our artists for early-bird shopping while savoring scrumptious desserts with wines paired by Teller Wines. June 17 – Rehoboth Bandstand Concerts Begin!, Rehoboth Ave. and The Boardwalk. 8:00 p.m. A summer of fabulous music kicks off with the party band, Deja Groove, then continues Saturday night, June 18, with rhythm and blues group, Vinyl Shockley. June 18 – Annual Delaware Seaside Train Show, Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, 10am-4pm. Sponsored by the Delaware Seaside Railroad Club, Inc. Over 120 tables of trains and train related items. June 18 - 21st Annual Lewes Garden Tour, 10am-5pm, Lewes. Featuring delightfully unique and private gardens. Tickets for the tour are $15 in advance at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, and $20 the day of the tour. June 18 - Annual MERRmaid Cruise, 7-9 p.m., Fisherman's Wharf, Lewes. Boarding begins at 6:30. Tickets $70 with all proceeds to benefit the non-profit Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute. June 19-23 - Chautauqua Tent Show, sponsored by the Delaware Humanities Forum and the state Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs. Theme is Dunes, Dancing and Dark Nights: Life on the Delaware Home Front during World War II. Crafts, lectures and music throughout each day. Evening performances, 7 p.m., will feature actors portraying Franklin Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt and Rosie the Riveter. The last night will be a dance with a Big Band. Free. June 20 – Monday Night Movies on the Beach Begin! 8:30 p.m., Dagsworthy St. in Dewey Beach. The first movie is “Mega Mind.” “How to Train Your Dragon” will be shown on June 27. June 25 – Wings of Hope – A Butterfly Release, Cape Henlopen High School. 9:00 a.m. The release is a celebration of life event where members can honor a loved one who is dealing with or who has dealt with cancer or who died from cancer. June 25-26 – Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival, Lewes Historical Society Complex. Advance gate passes available at Sand n Stones (112 Front Street, Lewes) and Ryves Holt House Museum Shop (2nd & Mulberry Streets) beginning Memorial Day. $5 per person for wrist band that is good for admission on both days to show as well as the speaker series. June 30 - "Chicago" Opening Night Speakeasy Party, Clear Space Theatre, 20 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach. To celebrate the opening of "Chicago," the theatre will be transformed into a sizzling, swinging, scintillating speakeasy. Join together for a live auction, hors d'oeuvres & cash bar, a "best dressed" contest, and the very first performance of "Chicago". Pre-show party starts at 6pm, show at 7pm. $65 per person.
